Shawl Ministry

A shawl is begun with love, woven with prayer; and is a symbol of an inclusive, unconditionally loving God. It wraps, enfolds, comforts, covers, gives solace, hugs, shelters and beautifies.

This ministry meets every Thursday morning from 9:30 to 11:30 in the meeting room of Selbert Hall. Currently there 30 members; not all are from Annunciation and not all attending every week. The group has been knitting and crocheting for over six years. They have given their shawls and lap robes, free of charge, to those who are shut in, ill, suffering from loss, or who just need comfort and healing at a particular time in their life.  The ministry has also provided burial outfits for infants to Mercy Hospital in South Buffalo and Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital. Recently, the ministry has expanded to include making a blanket for every baby and a shawl for every adult baptized at Annunciation Church.

Donations of yarn, especially white baby yarn, are gratefully accepted. If you know of someone who needs a shawl or lap robe, you can text or call Gail Buehlmann at 716-698-0658 or e-mail at [email protected].
Won't you consider joining us? If you're interested, join us at our next meeting on Thursday at 9:30 AM in the Selbert Hall meeting room. We have patterns, yarn and needles for everyone to use.
