32nd Sunday in Ordinary Time
Is there life on other planets? Awhile back scientists were pessimistic about finding life elsewhere – earth being a solitary outpost of life in a vast universe. But recently astronomers are finding more and more planets revolving around stars in the right orbit and with the right mix of minerals to nurture life. We may not be alone. The question about life is not just in the universe but about the possibility of life after death. In the Gospel Jesus speaks of the God of the living. In our first reading, the author gives testimony of Jewish brothers, facing torture and death, expressing faith in God’s justice and hope of resurrection. St. Paul in our second reading writes of “everlasting encouragement and good hope†for all who enjoy God’s love and mercy in Jesus Christ. Tomorrow is Veteran’s Day. We remember the men and women who have served our nation in times of conflict and war. May they know our gratitude and come to experience God’s healing and peace.
