Imagine the President asking you to be an ambassador. Well -- that is what St. Paul is writing to the Corinthians: we are ambassadors of Christ. We are commissioned to go into the world speaking and acting for the Great King. As his ambassadors we announce and inaugurate the Kingdom of God. The task given to us during Lent is to pray, to fast, to give alms, to reflect on Sacred Scripture and to do good works. We accept this discipline with the hope that we will come to enjoy God's very life and enter into the paschal mystery -- the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. If you are ready to accept this mission, please come forward to receive ashes -- etched in a sign of the cross -- our credentials as ambassadors of Christ.
